Craig Fortuin, a full time lecturer at the Varsity College Cape Town campus, exhibits how lecturers can 'move out of the textbook and into the lives of their students'. It is for this reason, and various others, that Craig was awarded the first annual Dr. Freysen Teaching Excellence Award by the Independent Institute of Education (IIE).
The Dr. Freysen Teaching Excellence Award is an acknowledgement of the dedicated and committed work that is being done in and out the classroom to pursue academic excellence and successful student learning that contributes to socially responsible and employable graduates. In particular it seeks to recognise lecturers who demonstrate creative and teaching approaches to promote productive learning.
Feel free to download Craig's presentation here, with notes to further elucidate each point.
